Our Compliance and Social Responsibility

Compliance

As a mining company operating in South Africa, ARM Andalusite is subject to the provisions of the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act No. 28 of 2002. In accordance with this Act, mining entities are mandated to adhere to various requirements. We are pleased to report that we comply, as measured against the Broad-Based Socio-Economic Empowerment Charter for the Mining Industry.

Furthermore, we take pride in being one of the few mining companies in South Africa that have achieved over 26% Black ownership. This is a testament to our commitment to transformation and empowerment in the mining industry.

Social Responsibility

As a mining company, ARM Andalusite (Pty) Ltd recognises the significant impact our operations can have on the environment and the surrounding communities. We are committed to managing our operations responsibly and sustainably, minimising our environmental footprint and contributing positively to the communities in which we operate.

To this end, we have implemented various environmental and social responsibility initiatives to minimise our environmental impact and promote sustainable development. We use state-of-the-art technology to minimise water and energy usage, reduce waste generation, and minimise emissions. We also work closely with local communities to ensure that our operations are aligned with their needs and expectations and that we operate in a socially responsible manner.

Our commitment to social responsibility goes beyond compliance with regulations and extends to positively impacting the lives of those around us. We take pride in our contributions to local economic development, job creation, and skills development, as well as our support for community development programs focused on education, healthcare, and social welfare.

At ARM Andalusite (Pty) Ltd, we believe that responsible mining is good for business and critical to the long-term sustainability of our industry and the communities in which we operate.

Planned Projects

Environmental

At ARM Andalusite, we understand the vital role that responsible mining plays in safeguarding our environment for future generations. We prioritise environmental sustainability by adhering to stringent regulations set forth by regulatory authorities. Our commitment to minimising the impact on the environment drives every aspect of our operations.

From the initial exploration phase to the extraction and processing of Andalusite, we employ state-of-the-art technologies and best practices to ensure minimal ecological disturbance. By adopting environmentally conscious measures, we aim to preserve biodiversity, conserve natural resources, and protect the delicate ecosystems surrounding our mining sites. Additionally, we take pride in producing Andalusite, a mineral with a much smaller carbon footprint than other refractory raw materials.

This is because no calcining is required before use as a raw material. With its low energy requirements and efficient production processes, Andalusite is a shining example of an eco-friendly material. By choosing Andalusite, our customers can confidently embrace a sustainable solution while minimising their environmental impact. Choosing Andalusite not only supports responsible mining practices but also contributes to a greener and more sustainable future for our planet.
